Welcome to Western Veterinary Clinic in Tyler, Minnesota!

We are located between Tyler and Lake Benton in southwest Minnesota, along US Highway 14. Veterinary services are provided for both large and small animals residing in Minnesota and South Dakota. Let us know how we can assist you!

Veterinarians are licensed to practice veterinary medicine, surgery, and dentistry, as well as prescribe medications for treatment and prevention of disease. Each veterinarian has obtained a doctor of veterinary medicine (DVM) degree from an accredited veterinary school, has state-specific licenses, and is accredited through the USDA to perform certain regulatory services. When providing veterinary medical service, veterinarians operate with a veterinarian-client-patient relationship. This veterinarian-client-patient relationship is required to write a prescription or a veterinary feed directive. A veterinarian, "the other family doctor," is a dentist, a pharmacist, a surgeon, and a doctor all wrapped up in one. These veterinary services are completed more effectively with veterinary technicians and assistants, and with the information you provide when your animal is being examined. The observations that you as the owner make in regard to clinical signs, the duration of an issue, or recent household/environmental changes can facilitate the veterinarian when making a diagnosis and determining treatment.

How We're Handling the COVID-19 Pandemic

First and foremost, the health and well-being of you, your loved ones and our employees remain our top priority.

We are committed to doing all that we can to help you and your animals during these challenging times, while simultaneously prioritizing the safety of our own employees and clients. Our plan, at this time, is to continue operating with our normal business hours as well as our 24/7 emergency coverage.

We ask that if you are sick or have flu-like symptoms, please call to reschedule your appointment, or ask a trusted friend/neighbor to attend your appointment on your behalf. Please call us with questions or to make different arrangements.

The CDC has indicated dogs, cats and other domestic animals are not considered at-risk for contracting COVID-19; and, at this point, there is no evidence that companion animals can spread COVID-19. However, since animals can spread other diseases to people, it is always a good idea to wash your hands after being around animals.
